How we can help with Panic Attacks

Panic attacks are a common symptom of anxiety. They can often leave you feeling as if you are losing your mind, that you may be dying, or having a heart attack. Signs of a panic attack include:

  • A sense of overwhelming fear
  • Difficulty breathing – like you are choking or can’t get enough air
  • Dizziness or feeling faint
  • Racing heart
  • Tingling in your hands or feet

Some simple strategies can be extremely useful in managing through a panic attack. Psychologists at The ACT Centre are trained in mindfulness techniques that help our clients return to the present moment and calm their physiological state in the midst of a panic attack. These skills can be easily learnt and applied to many symptoms of anxiety and panic.
